The barn had changed very little since it was built and was home to numerous animal stalls, haylofts, old farm equipment...200 years of collected items covered in dust and hay. Over the summer of 2015 the barn started to empty out and take shape. A deck was built off the back, a new roof in 2016, new floors in 2017, and continuous landscaping and improvements to our 70 acres! And in the middle of all that, our daughter was born in 2016. In the fall of 2017 we successfully hosted our first two weddings! Since then we have hosted over 60 weddings and continue to make improvements and add to the farm. We began a cut-flower field in 2020, which has quickly become a favorite spot on the farm. And in 2021 we welcomed our second daughter!

We celebrate ALL Love. All are welcome no matter your race, color, religion, sex, national origin, ancestry, disability, marital, family, pregnancy status, sexual orientation, body size, gender identity, gender expression, veteran or citizenship status. We believe love is love. We support LGBTQIA+ couple’s right to be married. We believe Black Lives Matter. We will support you however you decide to be married and celebrate while here.

We are so excited to live our dream and to write a new page in the history of this farm. We look forward to having the first day of YOUR new journey together become a part of our history! Come visit us and we will show you around. We know you will fall in love with the yellow doors too.

In keeping with the tradition of the Allagash our cabins are kept rustic yet very homey and comfortable. Our log lodge and guest cabins were all hand made on site with a combination of logs and rough sawn boards.  A loon calls out across the lake, you walk down to the shoreline as the morning mist is rising off the surface of the water and down in a cove a moose is feeding in the shallows. Think you’re dreaming? This could be a reality here at Loon Lodge in the Allagash.

The Allagash is one of the last remote wildernesses left in the east. This is the place where the deer, moose, bears, loons and bald eagles call home. The Allagash is a region rich in logging lore, where logs were once cut with axes and flowed in great log drives down the isolated streams and rivers of the area.

Our authentic, once thriving dairy farm which housed 20,000 bails of hay in what now is the reception area, went through extensive renovations in early 2012 to become one of Maine’s Premier Wedding Barn Venues and one of Maine’s largest open style barns.

The Barn and our Bridal Farm House sit high atop 108 country acres over looking the Maine Western Mountains and yet is only 5 minutes away from the second largest twin cities of Maine, Lewiston-Auburn, boasting five-star hotels, many top area restaurants, shopping malls and theaters.

From 1833 to 1836, John, James, and Luther Hoar II purchased various properties from Squire James Rangeley to create a single large block. The resulting property is located at the spot where every local governmental unit comes together, Dallas, Sandy River Plantations and the Town of Rangeley.

Original Farmhouse: In 1899 the land was acquired by Nathan Ellis who purchased it from the heirs of Luther Hoar (who changed their name from Hoar to Nile). It was named Lake View Farm, but it is usually referred to in the recent past as the Ellis Farm.

From 1899 until 1917 Nathan Ellis operated Lake View Farm as a major sheep farm; at its zenith, the farm had 3000 sheep. During that time, Nathan added to the fields and barns until there were a total of 12 or 13 barns and outbuildings on the property.

The large portion of the farmhouse, which was originally a barn, was finished in 1903. Nate had eight sons and one daughter. His seventh son, Lynwood purchased the Farm from the estate, brothers and sister in the year 1917. Lynwood and Marion (Oakes) had 6 sons and 6 daughters. He continued the farm as a sheep farm and in the late 1920’s he had fourteen single room tourist cottages built near the lake for the tourist trade.

The Stone Barn is situated on an 18-acre farm on Saint Joseph’s College’s 474-acre campus in Standish, Maine. Following its deep commitment to sustainability, wellness, and the local economy, the College completed renovation of its historic barn—part of the property’s original Verrill estate—in June of 2016 and began offering it as a premier event destination in the region.

When it’s not hosting weddings or corporate events, you may find entrepreneurs and agricultural and food system policy makers gathered there. The Stone Barn and its courtyard accommodate up to 175 guests from mid-May through mid-October. A lighted trail across the street leads to more college facilities including a chapel and swimming and boating opportunities on the shoreline of Sebago Lake.
